1st XV CROWNED EASTERN COUNTIES DIV 1 SOUTH CHAMPIONS 2023/24 🏆🏉💪🦢
Mistley 1st XV have guaranteed promotion to London & SE Division 2 with two games still in hand to the end of the season with a comprehensive victory against Ipswich 2nd XV by 58-0. The bonus point secured this promotion.
Ipswich came with a strong and experienced team and, despite the scoreline, a very competitive and hard fought game was played for 80 minutes in which Mistley scored 9 tries.
Ipswich had the bigger pack and gave Mistley one of their toughest tests all season but the scrum overcame that pressure and won most possession. The work rate was immense and Mistley won the battle in loose play and with hard and fast running converted this into points.
Mark Towler Mistley’s President said after the game that he was immensely proud of the men on the pitch and for securing promotion against an experienced and committed Ipswich side. In addition he praised both the 1st XV and Mistley’s 2nd XV, known as the Marauders, who are both still in contention for The Suffolk RFU Silver and Bronze Cup competitions respectively.
