Mistley Under 8’s and Under 12’s went on tour this weekend returning to the Holt RFC youth rugby festival for the second year.
The kids enjoyed lots of adventure, activities and team bonding in North Norfolk. After mini-olympics, bouldering, high-ropes and late nights at the campfire, the weekend culminated in some brilliant performances at the rugby festival.
The standard at Holt is always exceptionally high, including RFU Championship club’s youth sections.
For the second year in a row at Holt, the U8’s swept all before them including impressive wins against the hosts and Nottingham. The boys and girls passing game really stood out alongside their usual aggressive defence.
The U12’s secured some memorable victories on the day but none more so than against the highly fancied hosts.
This was undoubtedly the boys finest hour against a very strong Holt team. Mistley dominated the breakdown and moved the ball quickly through the backs. Holt’s defence was heroic but, unable to get out of their own half as Mistley swarmed over them in the loose, something had to break and the boys of Mistley crossed the whitewash twice to secure the win.
The boys left everything out there and, it was a performance so complete, that coach Simon Carter was moved to tears!
A fantastic and fun weekend of team bonding in which our standard of play was complemented and commented on by a number of opposition coaches. The boys and girls did themselves and the club proud. Passion, Spirit, Strength
