The Swans are Recruiting

Mistley RUFC have a strong Women’s Squad – The Swans – who train for both Touch and Contact rugby twice a week, on Wednesday evenings and Sunday Mornings. The Swans are always looking for new players to join the team. No previous experience necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to have fun.

The Mistley Swans women’s rugby team is making waves as it continues to grow in both numbers and energy. What started as a small group of five women training at the end of July has blossomed into a strong squad of over 20 players. Many of the team members are mums who are either new to the sport or have children playing in the club’s mini or youth squads.

The camaraderie and enthusiasm among the women are evident in every training session, with players sense of community. Their infectious energy has been key to attracting new recruits, and the squad’s numbers are still on the rise.

The team is training for both touch and contact rugby, with the contact squad preparing for their first full game against Haverhill on 29th March. In the lead-up to this exciting fixture, the Mistley Swans will attend an Inner Warrior Series session at Hadleigh on 2nd March. This event will feature teams from Hadleigh, Harwich, Dovercourt, and further afield, including the UEA Valkyries, offering a great opportunity for the team to sharpen their skills ahead of their debut match.

With strong camaraderie, impressive growth, and a shared passion for rugby, the Mistley Swans women's team is proving to be a force to be reckoned with as they continue to build momentum in their rugby journey.
